From day to day, I have many conversations about concerns about heart attacks and how to reduce the risk of having a heart attack. However more importantly is the topic of atherosclerotic coronary vascular disease. This is another term synonymous with coronary artery disease. This is the most common risk factor for heart attacks and more globally as strokes. Today we will specifically talk about coronary artery disease however the same process takes place in all arteries in our body. Coronary artery disease is specifically plaque buildup and inflammation within the arteries that supply blood to the heart (coronary arteries). To a degree most of this plaque buildup is inevitable. There are studies that demonstrate plaque buildup in infants as young as 10 months old, however some of these types of plaques are not as concerning. Today we will focus on the plaque buildup that leads to risk for heart attacks.

New School Meals Program recognizes importance of dairy products

USDA includes flavored milks in program updates GREEN BAY, Wis. ─ New school meal standards announced last week by the USDA include major steps to promote the health of America’s children through school meals. The new standards will be gradually updated to include less sugar and more flexibility in menu planning between Fall 2025 and Fall 2027, according to the USDA announcement.
