May 20, 1947 – December 3, 2023 Michael R. “Mike” Dusenbery, 76, of Beatrice, died on December 3, 2023, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1947, in Pawnee City to H. R. “Jiggs” and Margaret Jeanne (Ritchie) Dusenbery. Mike graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1965 and Kearney State College in 1969 where in played football. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972. He married Shirley Hanson, and they were blessed with a son, R, and a daughter, Nicole. Later he married Amy Ripley, and they were blessed with a daughter, Melissa. Mike worked for the FDIC from 1969 until 1980, the Richardson County Bank & Trust 1980-1981, and then the Pickrell State Bank, Beatrice National Bank, Pinnacle Bank and First State Bank until his retirement in 2014. Mike was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he helped usher, the Nebraska Bankers Association, and Blue Valley Shrine Club. He enjoyed helping with the Hoops basketball program, attending Husker sporting events, reading, working on family history, collecting stamps and coins, his weekly dinner club and spending time at the lake.

Survivors include his son, R (Shannon) Dusenbery of Lincoln; daughters, Nicole Dusenbery of Holdrege and Melissa Dusenbery of Kansas City, KS; two granddaughters, Morgan and Ashley Dusenbery; brother, Brad (Kathy A.) Dusenbery of Parkville, MO; sister, Kathy L. Dusenbery of Kansas City, MO; former wives, Shirley Olson of Holdridge and Amy Dusenbery of Lincoln; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, H. R. “Jiggs” Dusenbery; mother, Margaret Jeanne Dusenbery; stepmother, LaVerna Dusenbery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Centenary United Methodist Church of Beatrice with Pastor Paisao Baptista officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Friday at the church. Military rites will be held at the church. Interment will be at the Table Rock Cemetery at 2:30 P.M. on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial has been established to the Disabled American Veterans and the Beatrice Hoops Program. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Thursday from noon until 8:00 P.M.
