Marian Lucille (Day) Goodenkauf joined the love of her life in heaven on 1 January 2021. Marian fell victim to the COVID pandemic. She was born in Table Rock, Nebraska, 11 May 1927 to Lewis Allen and Laura Ellen (Aylor) Day. She married Arley Goodenkauf, a former POW from the 101st Air Borne, on 26 May 1948.

Marian and Arley lived in Omaha for most of their marriage, moving to rural Elk Creek in 1984. Marian was active in gardening winning several awards as a gardener and a rose judge. At one point she had over 600 rose bushes and was the second woman to serve as President of the Omaha Rose Society.

She is survived by 3 children: daughter Laurie (David) Hauschild of Grand Island; and sons Owen (Ally Dering-Anderson) of Lincoln and Marty of Elk Creek; six grandchildren: Laura Goodenkauf of Pasadena, Jolyn (Dustin) Merry of Lincoln, Jacob (Kaleigh) Anderson of West Des Moines, W.A. Buddy (Chehala) Goodenkauf of Bennet, Daniel Hauschild of Lincoln, and Jillian Hauschild of Lincoln; and 4 great-grandchildren: Joyella, Arley, Albie, and Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arley, her parents, and younger sister Janet (Janie) Schuster.
