Charles Lee (Chuck) Gehrig, 75, of Salisbury, MO, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born on December 20, 1944, the son of Herman and LaVirda (Towle) Gehrig. He went to elementary school in Mascot, NE, and graduated with the class of 1963, from Oxford High School in Oxford, NE. Chuck then graduated Diesel Mechanics school in Milford, NE. He served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1969 as a drill sergeant. He was united in marriage to Joyce Koester on September 28, 1969 in Bern, KS and they had two children, Kevin Lee and Amy Dawn Smedley. Chuck’s greatest joys in life were his children, grandchildren, fishing, hunting, and camping. He worked for Atlantic Richfield Pipeline for 27 years, was the owner operator of “Gehrig Home Repair”, and also worked for the City of Salisbury of several years.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of 51 years; two children, Kevin (Stacia) Gehrig of Republic, MO, Amy (Joe) Smedley of Salisbury, MO; five grandchildren, Caleb, Codey, and Alyssa Smedley of Salisbury, MO, Be̒la and Beatrice Gehrig of Republic, MO; mother LaVirda “Pat” Gehrig of Oxford, NE; extended family and host of good friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father Herman Gehrig in 1973, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Howard and Alberta Koester of DuBois, NE.

Funeral services werer at 11 am, Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, MO. Burial with Full Military Honors followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation was Tuesday morning from 9 am until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to the Larry’s Warriors of Salisbury, MO.
