On Jan. 25, 1967 around 50 school kids from DuBois took a train ride many of them will never forget. It was the last train ride to DuBois of the Rock Island line that ran from Horton to Beatrice.
Lynne Roland was in the second grade then.
“ All I really remember was being very excited about getting to ride the train and it seemed like there were just lots of trees along the way,” she said.
