Dorothy Mae Fellers Gilbert was born October 8, 1924 in Table Rock, Nebraska to Victor and Grace (Johnson) Fellers. She passed away on September 23, 2020 at Pawnee City, NE.

Dot attended school in Table Rock, and graduated in 1942. She was married to Elmer (Pete) Gilbert on June 12, 1942 at Covington, Kentucky. They lived in Ohio for the first few months of marriage, but in November of 1942 Pete joined the Army during WW II. After 3 years in the Service, they started farming north of Table Rock, Nebraska. They continued farming for 22 years, moving on to Seneca, Summerfield and Oketo, Kansas. After a devastating hail storm in 1967, they decided to quit farming. They moved to Beatrice, Nebraska and lived there for 5 years. Dot was employed at J C Penney’s for awhile, then at Woolworth’s.

After that they moved to Lyons, Colorado and bought a home in the mountains, which Dot dearly loved. She was employed at Woolco and then Arapahoe National Bank in Boulder, CO. Later she worked at Storage Technology near Louisville, CO. She retired from there in 1985. They moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska in July of 1994.

Dot was baptized while a baby, and became a member of the Methodist Church in Table Rock in her early teens. She was an active member of the Women’s Society in Table Rock and at Oketo, KS. She belonged to numerous extension clubs over the years and held many offices. She and Pete Joined the Methodist Church in Pawnee City in 1997.

Dot liked reading, taking trips and taking pictures. She had filled many photo albums with pictures of family and of the trips they had taken. She had many scrap books filled with news items, and she loved collecting recipes. Dot worked on genealogy for many years and had the Fellers family back 9 generations and the Gilbert family back 10 generations.

Dot and Pete loved to dance, but they had to give it up after she had back surgery and breast cancer in 1993. She loved the “Big Band” music of the 1940’s and had a huge collection of records.

Dot loved to bake and shared her “goodies” with neighbors and friends. She always made 3 dozen crescent rolls for family dinners, and used to make a lot of kolaches and cinnamon rolls until it got to be too hard for her to do.
