Kathi Mecure finds treasures among people

Looking for treasures at junkit shops and flea markets comes naturally to Kathi Mercure of Tecumseh. As a little girl in Pawnee City, Kathi would go with her mom, Cece Flanagin, to auctions where she could find treasures for only 25 cents a box. Kathi’s dad, Calvin Flanagin, would occasionally pick up items he found along the road.

The Museum Mural of Table Rock

It was August of 1979, 41 years ago. JoAnne Kalina decided to paint a mural on the side of the old newspaper office, which had been a museum for just three years at the time. It was one of a growing array of museums in Table Rock, which proudly called itself the Museum Town.

Johnson County to upgrade its weather alert system

Johnson County will be replacing its Code Red severe weather alert system effective November 9. According to Johnson County's Emergency Manager Amanda Burki, this upgrade of the weather alert system will now be issued through Ever Bridge, a computerized internet system operated by and through the National Weather Service. The Code Red system has been used in Johnson County since 2012 and has become obsolete.

Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging joins Nebraska Strong

10/23/2020- Today Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging and Nebraska Strong Recovery Project joined together to develop a network of outreach to older residents of southeast Nebraska. The two organizations joined in response to the ongoing stress of the pandemic and continued isolation of elders in the area.
