HTRS to add building by 2015 school year

Toward the start of the school year next year, HTRS could have a brand new building added on the north side of the current building. The price tag is $5,061,000. The Titans plan to pay for it with several sources, according to HTRS Superintendent Clinton Kimbrough. The expected valuation to come out Aug. 20 is $700 million, and the levy will be seven cents. Kimbrough said. $1.9 million will come from Building Construction Funds, and $1,930,000  will come from the Qualified Capital Purpose Fund

Thom Hunt sprucing up old library for Gallery opening

Where did the summer go? It’s back to school for area students in the next couple of weeks. Pawnee City students start back to school Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 8:10 a.m. with 2 p.m. dismissal. HTRS starts Aug. 18 with a full day and Lewiston starts Aug. 14 with 12:30 p.m. dismissal and a 12:30 p.m. dismissal on Aug. 15.

Clay Schaardt a winner at raccoon hunt contests

If you want a good coonhound, you got to go hunting with it. 14-year-old Clay Schaardt of Table Rock said he hunts 5-7 nights a week to train his coonhounds to be the best. It works apparently as he has taken home countless show classes and finished second during the big Black and Tan Coon Hunt in Wauson, Ohio.

Tecumseh cowboy serves as rodeo pickup man

Communication is the key for pickup man Lavon Othmer. Othmer, who lives in the country between Elk Creek and Tecumseh, and Tim Teidman of Eagle worked the Pawnee County Fair Rodeo this past weekend. They depend on each other out there. There is the communication between them and the rider. It’s their job to get the rider and horse out safely from the heels of the bulls and broncs
